Once there were twelve kids in an orphanage on a small island called Catalina off the coast of California. When an asteroid crashed, it started a fire which soon consumed the whole island. Everyone got out safely; except for the six boys and six girls of the orphanage. The fire consumed them, yet they returned, more powerful then ever before. The fire, infused with the asteroids power, gave each of the children a unique power. Half of them chose a life of fame and fortune and chose to accept their powers and learn to control them. The other half chose to live out their lives peacefully, getting adopted and trying hard not to let their powers ruin their lives. Everything was calm and quiet... until now.

Once upon a time, five people agreed to be part of a secret experiment. The experiment was meant to give them superpowers. They were promised that their loved ones would not be affected by the experiment, no matter what the outcome was. This was good, as the experiment failed--or so they thought. For one, it was her first child. For another, his second-born. For a third, her third. For the fourth, her fourth, and for the fifth, his first. They were all born with strange powers--powers that nobody could explain, and that put everybody around them in danger. Taken from their parents, the children were raised apart from society. They served a particular purpose. Nothing would go wrong. Until something does... or a lot of somethings.
