One night at Pandemonium, Clarissa Fray sees two boys with knives follow a boy and girl into a back room. She and her best friend told the bouncer. However, when they led him to the storage room, there's no one there. Clary completely forgets about this incident the next day when her mother tells her that she's going away to Luke's farm for the summer. Frustrated, Clarissa ignores her mother's pleas and storms out of the house. She and Simon go to listen to Eric read crappy poetry and Simon is able to tell Clary about his feeling towards her (without Jace rudley interrupting them by 'accident') .
