It's been years since the bombs dropped. All we've heard is stories of the old world. The green covering the entire planet. The light shining from the sky... The warm winds flowing through nature... We've never felt those. Never seen those. All we know is how to survive. Scavenge what's left, and warm ourselves from the cold, ashy snowfall outside. It's not the explosion that's the worst. It's what follows.

Siblings Isobel and Simon are on the last leg of a journey that started before they were even born. Faded words on a scrap of paper drove their parents to leave the safety of their home. To search for meaning in a dying mans words. Generations ago, something happened that changed the world. Levelled cities. Killed billions. The note is all that remains, containing a single message to those left behind. «We tried too hard to save the world» 'The Answer at the X' is a short story set in a post-apocalyptic world a lot like our own. The story is part of the Legacy Collection, a series-in-planning of short stories and novellas set in this world, that may eventually shed some light on what actually happened when it all came crashing down. --------------------------------------------- I'll be posting this story over the next weeks.
