"What happened today?" My dad looked up from his food. "What do you mean? It wasn't that bad." I knew he was talking about pitching. "Not that bad isn't good enough. You're on varsity for a reason, I need you to do better than not that bad." Both of us were on edge and it was obvious. "The season has barely even started, Dad, everyone is rusty." "This isn't rusty, this is not caring." He raised his voice. "You think I don't care? This is my senior year, of course I care." I raised mine. "You're not showing me that. You have to do better, or there's gonna be a nice seat for you on the bench all season." "Well I'm sorry, Dad. I'm sorry I can't be Brayden!" It's Luke Davis' senior baseball season, and he's got a lot on his plate. His father and coach named him Varsity Captain, his brother's overseas, plus his crush's brother hates him. Luke has to find his way to navigate all this and more. He's got his support system and he's still got the one thing he cares most about: Baseball. For Luke, it all goes back to The Diamond.
