The Kumbakkarai Falls originates from the Western Ghats.  The river flows through rocks and green pastures to form as Kumbakkarai Falls, at the foothills of the Kodaikanal Hills.   The origin of the river has been identified form a location near the Theni district of the south Indian State of Tamil Nadu.  The water on its journey accumulates restoration and medicinal powers to treat pores in the skin and different minor ailments.  Even though the Kumbakkarai Falls is not very popular among the tourists it is very popular among the locals.
