Violet the octoling came across a beautiful lake and decided to sit upon the docks to relax until one day she came back up there and noticed a strange figure in the water... She presumed it was one of her kind due to the dim view but when she reveals herself it turns out to be an octoling...who can survive in water?

The story takes place long ago and is about a scientist that has no other dream but to create life. After many failures, he is forced to seek help from hooded figures that appear one night. He succeeds, but gets trapped in deal he can't escape from. A few months later, a shadow starts terrorizing the land of Inkopolis. It strikes at night, it's blade cutting down everyone that gets in it's way. One night, four travelers gather to stop the shadow, and go out to fight it.
