Carter Costello leads a semi-regular life, being an only child to a widowed father after her mother died in a terrible accident while she was still a baby. The only thing unusual about her life is her horrible night terrors, that often wake her in a sweat and keep her from sleeping most nights. It wasn't until her best friend Avery pulled her along to investigate murders going on in the city over that everything changed. 

Carter has to deal with far more than just school and homework once her life becomes tangled with supernatural affairs.
