He doesn't love her. If he loved her, he wouldn't shiver when her gaze turned in his direction. If he loved her, he wouldn't flinch at any contact made between them. If he loved her, he wouldn't search for escape in her presence. Relationships don't occur over night, so why did theirs?

    Everett Greene has absolutely no redeemable qualities; for lack of a better word, he is a loser. The crucial fact that he is unable to communicate like any other human is the main reason for his insufficient number of friends. His total of companions being exactly one. He is definitely lonely but he thrives in the solitude nonetheless. With no one to bother him, Everett finds it easy to watch his fellow classmates and his curious mind leads him into scenarios that, with hindsight, he would have avoided. 
    But Everett soon loses the one friend he had managed to persuade into staying with him, Daniel, to the girl with a fierce glare and a constant surrounding of devoted followers. Exactly one day after Daniel's birthday, Everett is not permitted to be anywhere near him. Once again, Everett curiosity gets the better of him and he soon finds himself in a situation more dangerous than he has ever faced before.
