Welcome to the land of Thestria, where sunny days and beaming faces are never lacking, where crops are abundant and water is plentiful, where the royal family is well-loved by the people, and where the world's only female knight dwells. Knighthood is the path that the honorable Lady Odessa has chosen for herself. Bold and smart as her father, she prowls the streets at night, bringing to justice those thieves and scoundrels that dare to harm the fair, hard-working Thestrians. Unfortunately, at the ripe age of nineteen, disasters begin to throw Odessa's life off-balance. Before she can decide what she wants for herself, she is practically thrown out of Thestria and into a perilous, dangerous world that even one as hardy as herself is barely able to handle. The fate of the royal family, her friends, and her beloved country are suddenly thrust into her quick hands, and the path to saving them is like a march to the gallows. Surrounding her on all sides are thieves, assassins, tyrants, traitors, pirates, demons, cruel deserts, crushing oceans, kingdoms with walls as high has the clouds, dark caves with unspoken horrors, and beautiful forests filled with treachery. Luckily, there is help-but not the kind of help Odessa was hoping for. Now, the only way for her to save herself (and everything that she holds dear) is to fight alongside the very sort of people she's always fought against.

"You're playing with fire Safania." "Good thing I don't burn." The last words he spoke before throwing me onto my bed sounded like a threat, but felt more like a promise. "You will." *** Don't get caught. Those are the three words Safania has lived by for the past five years. As a marked woman - easily identified by intricate bronze marks on her back and unpredictable special abilities - she has spent the past five years running from anyone who might exploit those abilities...especially the royal families who tortured marked women to build their empires. Starving, exhausted, and frozen, she collapses by the bank of a river just to wake up in her worst nightmare: the chambers of a prince. Prince Cassius is his father's first choice of his three brothers to ascend to the throne. He's smart, strategic, and stoic, unlike his corrupt and depraved brothers. There's just one problem: he has no interest in any of his proposed marital matches, and the King will only pick someone as his successor who he knows will carry on the family line. But once he meets Safania, he finds himself unable to imagine ruling the kingdom without her by his side. Can he convince her to trust him? *** Warning: this story contains mature and potentially triggering themes including domestic violence and sexual assault. Reader discretion is advised.
