When a new strand of rabies is developed by accident, its former hope to counter cancer is sadly forgotten. Affecting humans' nervous system, it turns them into unstoppable cannibals. When Ringer's entire family, including over 3/4 of the population is wiped out by mass destruction, she is forced to leave her childhood memories behind and find other survivors.
