Less than half of Earth's population knows about the paranormal beings that lurk the shadows. Riley, being one of the clueless, recently graduated college with her bachelors. Riley has been taking medication all of her life because she has been hearing voices in her head since she was twelve. Sometimes she can't fully understand what the voices are saying but she hears the same two voices all the time.

One of the voices warns her when she is in danger and the voice has saved her life six times. The other voice tries to convince Riley to meet up with them to talk to Riley in person.

For a long time, Riley denied that she was crazy, but a few years ago, she lost hope. She finally believed that she was mentally ill. When Riley moves into her new home, which is far away from her old one, the voices become more clear and she soon finds out, she's not crazy . . . and she has a connection with the shadow lurkers.
