The Words of a Dying Star surrounds the young, aspiring poet, Seraphina Lilith Sterling, whose biggest dream is to be North America's next big artist, and follow in the footsteps of her mother, who failed at conquering her own. One night, Lilith accidentally leaves her notebook full of all her poems and epigrams at a lonesome cafe, and when she returns to reacquire it, she finds that it has been picked up by a tall, black-haired stranger. The woman immediately terminates Lilith's hard work as inferior, which immensely devastates her. Despite her rage, with this being their first encounter, Lilith becomes intrigued with the stranger, who soon turns out to be the famous romance novelist, Aviana Harmony.
