At exactly five minutes to midnight, Carla was summoned to the middle of a forest by her illusive birth mother.
Her birth mother stepped out from another realm with the words "Its your turn to save the world. You are not of this world but you must save the earthlings from their ultimate destruction. Someday like your mother before you, you will be summoned to leave your child behind to continue our work."
Carla yelled back at the vision, "I will never leave my future family. NEVER NEVER!"
"You have no choice in the matter my daughter. When the time comes you will obey. Enjoy the time you have left and make it productive."
It was as if the world was spinning out of control. And then Carla passed out into the new fallen snow.
