Luciole was born a nonconformist. Born and raised in the small town of Mystic, Connecticut, she grew up in a stringently religious family attending Union Baptist Church every Sunday without fail. With very few friends and a need for space and solitude, she often found herself strolling through the rural parts of town by the river, getting lost in the plantlife around her and dipping her toes in the water. As time goes on and life gets increasingly complicated, Luciole begins to question, and eventually altogether reject the teachings of her regularly attended Baptist church. She soon enters the doorway to Wicca, a new practice that enthralls her. But it is something that she makes a priority to keep hidden from her deeply Christian family. Growing better at what she does, she discovers an energy within her psyche that is more powerful than anything she has ever experienced in her Church-confined life. As keeping her practice from her family proves more and more difficult, Luciole is forced to choose between the life she once knew, and the life she could have. But the consequences are far more grave than she could expect.

❝ 𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 ❞ Freddie Gilbert was born into the wrong body. He still thought about the way his parents once told him he was, 'going through a phase' and that he'd grow out of his insistence that he was, in fact, their son and not the daughter. But ultimately, they came to accept him for who he was and when they died, he felt like a piece of them had been taken with them. He thought the grief might consume him and that's how he ended up fleeing Mystic Falls, resulting in a two week bender in the engaging city of New York, until his aunt forced his return and he had no choice but to adjust to life without his mother and father. Only life in Mystic Falls was about to get a whole lot harder, and as a trans boy in high school, Freddie didn't even know that was possible.
