In an alternate universe where there is no Curtis gang, so everyone is a stranger except for Steve and Sodapop. 

Ponyboy Curtis is openly gay, he thought it would be a good idea to tell everyone so that it would be over an done with. He was wrong... Darry doesnt approve, he and Sodapop abuse Ponyboy to the point where he thinks he's gonna die. 

'Why did I ever make this choice?' I thought as Darry landed one more punch in my side. I quickly got up and ran to my room, locking the door.

Johnny Cade is the type of boy who is very reserved. He doesn't like violence so he tries the best he can to not get on peoples bad side. He doesn't have many friends, well, he doesn't have any friends. That and people finding out that he's gay, make him an easy target for bullying. 

I sat in the corner of my room, tears streaming down my face. 'Why are people so cruel?' I think as i shakily stand up. i stumble over to my bed and collapse on to it. I hear the angry footsteps of my father as he makes his way up the stairs.
