When Harry auditions for the X-factor, he doesn't do it because he thinks he has the X-factor (or whatever that even is). Its because he wants to prove to everyone that he can, and more importantly, prove to himself that he can.
After being bullied so badly he turned to self-harm, Harry gave up his dreams of being a singer long ago, but he's stronger now, and he's ready to settle this for once and for all.
So with his guitar strapped across him, and a song stuck in his head, he stumbles out of the house, persuaded a little bit (a lot) by the fact that the one and only Louis Tomlinson will be there, and heads for his new future.
