No One Left but Us
This was inspired by a dream that I have had about Shadow the Hedgehog. 🤪😎)
It started with silence.
Not peace-sterile, suffocating silence. The kind that lives in places built to erase people.
Beneath the earth, hidden from the world, three children were held by G.U.N.
Not patients.
Not prisoners.
Projects.
Subject SH-01: Shadow.
Discovered after a meteor crash, too powerful to destroy, too dangerous to set free. They called him an anomaly. They drained him for energy, locked him away when he wouldn't break. Not for study anymore-but for containment. A ghost in the basement.
Subject Y-12: Yelena.
Fourteen. Human-mostly. A mutation born in fear, twisted into a weapon. They tried to control her power with punishment and sedation. But she never bent the way they wanted.
Subject K-09: Kenai.
Twelve when G.U.N. took him. Orphaned, discarded by the system. When he defended himself, they saw potential. Injected him with a serum. Turned him superhuman. Cold drills. Colder praise. They didn't need to break him-he already was.
They were never meant to meet.
Each buried in different levels.
Each alone.
Until something went wrong-a breach, a blackout, a moment of mercy.
And they found each other.
Now fugitives, they drift together-Kenai, Yelena, and Shadow-hunted by the very place that made them.
G.U.N. calls them unstable, dangerous, corrupted.
But what they never accounted for was this:
They're stronger together.
Not monsters.
Not mistakes.
Just kids who survived.
They're not friends.
Not exactly family.
But they're all they've got.
And for the first time,
They're not just trying to survive.
They're not trying to disappear.
They're trying to live.
Fighting for the right to exist.
Fighting for the ones still locked behind glass.
Fighting for a place to belong.
And maybe-just maybe-becoming the very thing G.U.N. never meant to create:
Hope.
