A little more than a year has passed since the outbreak swept over the planet and annihilated a good portion of the living. Perri was one of the lucky ones who managed to evacuate with the military escorted buses in those early days of the spread. But, that luck didn't last. After one too many tragedies, she had decided to finally leave the, so called, "safe zone". With her main objective being the search for her best friend, she finds more than she bargained for. Firstly, A trigger warning for mental health/ self inflicted wounds when reading. you're only 18 years old. your name is zoe. you always had a love for the apocalypse but didn't think it would truly happen. and you slowly learn that nobody is who they say they are. Nobody is to be trusted. Things are gonna fall apart, and nobody can save us now. This book is being rewritten again and hopefully is better than the first and second time it was published. It's kind of cringe most of the way. Wrote it when i was like 13-14 years old or something and tried rewriting when I was about 16. Didn't work. Trying to rewrite it again at 20 but i don't think the first two books are saveable. Book three so far however is going well(i believe anyway). The second book has also been rewritten and will be rewritten again. now I'm working on finishing book three. All characters are mine but ellis is not I will be changing a lot of character names again in this rewriting process in all books, ellis being the biggest.

It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. They thought they could contain it, control it even, but it's spreading faster than they thought. The world is dying faster than ever before. And Carisa only want to survive, to make it to the next day, bumping into an Alien she thought she'd be petrified. But upon further inspection... their not that much different that humans. Curiosity at its peek with both of them and so she gains a tail always creeping behind her. The aliens just won't let her go. Story is written on my free time so it has a lot of typos, sorry. People born with this gene are called "Conduits", or Bio-terrorrists if your in the majority who hate them. Conduits are viewed as monsters who only bring evil to the world, and are captured by the "Department of Unified Protection" or "D.U.P" for short. The D.U.P takes these conduits to a prison known as Curden Cay Station and do God knows what to them. So you can imagine that finding out one day that you are one of these conduits would be an extremely bad situation to be in, and unfortunately for our freshly graduated main protagonist, he is about to find out just how dark this world can be. With the death of his lover at the hands of a conduit during their escape from the D.U.P, will our protagonist fall to his anger and seek vengeance for his lover's death? Or will he prevail and choose to be the better man in a world where the better people are at risk?
