Five hundred years from now, the Earth is a very different place. For as long as its sparse population can remember, the planet has been shrouded in a mysterious and perpetual blanket of darkness. It is a dreary world where cities are spread out and cut off from each other. Crime, poverty, and hopelessness rule the people with a tyranny that rivals the caste based classes that govern. However, all is not lost; an organization known as the Shadows watch in secret. They are charged with covertly maintaining balance and order in the world. Since the beginning of the darkness, they have manipulated events in human history, making sure our race does not teeter over into the bottomless pit of anarchy. More importantly, they know the secret of the all-consuming darkness overtaking the world, and how to end it. The Shadows possess immeasurable and supernatural power and as time progressed there were those among the ranks of Shadow leaders who sought misuse such power. Now, in humanities darkest hour, a civil war is brewing amongst the Shadows, threatening to reveal their half century secret, and bring destruction to the human race.

Turns out, stars weren't just distant lights; they were guiding spirits, protectors who bestowed knowledge, seasons, and even the "Star Age", a golden era of peace and innovation. And long ago, the people's ancestors worshipped these Star spirits. The stars were once worshipped... until they faded. Now, Klyptox kneels before Lord Dhaul, a tyrant fueled by a forbidden blood spirit-and his rise to power may be impossible to stop. Will the Star spirits watch this mighty calamity fall, unquestionably, without interfering? Or will they send a hero, one born with the Star Mark, destined to challenge Riolak and reborn the once-fallen Star Age...?
