Laire Psalms was only three years old when Earth fell.

Since then, she has lived inside a giant spaceship with the rest of the survivors, raised by rules, shaped by strict training, and pushed to prepare for a future she never chose. Everyone in the ship has one mission: to go back and take Earth again.

After years of hard work and sacrifice, she has earned her rank and is finally set to return to the planet she barely remembers. Her life has always been about orders, routine, and survival. But the closer she gets to her departure, the more things stop making sense. 

No one speaks of what truly happened to the planet. No one explains what they're really walking into. And no one dares to question the rules that have governed them all their lives.

Does the world feel like it's ending? Because for Laire, it already has.
