It takes fifteen seconds for a human to reach terminal velocity in free fall. Fifteen seconds for an accident to become a tragedy. The story on the news that morning had been about a man who's chute didn't open when he was skydiving. She was fifteen years old, and that still didn't seem long enough to end a life. Fifteen seconds was too small to be considered so much as a moment. Why should fifteen measly seconds stand up to a human life? Emily Michaels is a seventeen-year-old misfit. Her two best friends, Miles and Jordan, are what keep her grounded. The problem? Having absentee parents means she's taking care of her little brother Cooper all by herself. And her friendship with Miles is tenuous at best after they almost slept together at Homecoming. Complicated? You can say that again.

Life is hard. Specially when you're a high schooler. You can never know when your life is about to go up. And you 'especially' can never know when it's about to go down. But you can always take some precautions to avoid outcome of the hit. At least that's what I thought before the great 'Ashton Fellan' (pardon the sarcasm) interposed himself in my life. ... "We don't have the prettiest history. We didn't exactly like each other when we first met. You're my rival's girlfriend. We weren't interested in becoming friends with each other. But now in this difficult time, we're befriending. You'll help me to find the person who leaked that photo and prove to the coach that the article was not a self-promo to challenge his ideology." "What's in this for me?" "I won't report on you for invading my privacy. Trust me when I say my dad knows people." I roll my eyes. Never get mixed up with people with money. But maybe a little help won't be so bad after all. So I take his hand and shake it. "Okay, we have a deal." He smiles. "Now let's drink to celebrate." And I already have a bad feeling about this. *cover picture collected from Pinterest* © 2020 SHEONACC001 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
