*Cover design by @Holycole * *Cover made by @Mason_Jar_w * Nobody really knows what happens when you die. Do you go to heaven? Hell? Get reincarnated? Does anything even happen? The only ones that know can't say anything. They're buried six feet underground or turned to ashes. That's where the supernatural beings come in. Angels, demons, and reapers really do exist and there are a heaven and a hell. Angels help the dead move on and bring them to heaven as long as they are assigned to go there. Demons, on the other hand, collect the souls of the living who either make deals with them or deserve to burn for eternity. Reapers decide who lives and who dies. A simple touch will stop the heart of any person no matter how healthy. It all seems so simple, yet it never is. An angel could have the manners of a true demon while a demon has the heart of an angel. There's always messes being made. Each demon has one chance to use a gun containing a Hell's bullet. That bullet will stop anyone or anything no matter it's power from collecting a soul. Most demons go all eternity without using it. Why should they? They don't want the responsibility that comes with saving the life. Vincent isn't like other demons. He still has some emotion left where his soul used to be. He may have collected hundreds of souls before without feeling anything, but when he sees a human named Kyson he instantly gets infatuated with him. He practically knows everything about him since Demons have access to those records. So when an angel goes to take Kyson's soul, Vincent doesn't stop to think before saving his life and instantly becoming a part of it.

Octaveus was depressed. He knew it, but no one else did. He hid it, just as he hid his scars. He wasn't human either; he hid that too. He hid almost everything about himself from everyone, in order to minimize the ridicule. His mental state, his thoughts, his scars, even his questionable sexuality. But that only fed into his sadness. Drew was insecure. He didn't like standing up for himself in fear of saying something wrong. He didn't even change in the main locker room for PE, he went in the stalls. He was anxious. He wanted to know what was happening and when so that he can prepare for all possible outcomes of that event. And he was gay; his family knew and supported him, but no one else knew. He was too scared of how they would react to tell them. Jessie knew his brother would be teased. It was really a fact. Humanity wasn't too good at accepting of different beings. No matter how human Octaveus made himself look, he couldn't hide his unnaturally pale skin that no matter how hard he tried would not tan or his yellow cat eyes. He just had to try to fit in, same as the rest of their family. Seth was the school bad boy, and secret werewolf. His hobbies included pushing around the Freshman, flirting relentlessly with any and every attractive popular girl in sight, and trying not to think about Octaveus. He didn't want other people to find out about his thoughts on the emo new kid. So, naturally, he made Octaveus's school day a living hell. But he still couldn't figure out why this new kid intrigued him so much, besides that he was obviously not human. {BOOK 1 OF THE 'Scars I Hide' SERIES} *CAUTION: Mature for scenes of self-harm and suicide, PG-13 language, graphic violence, and some sexual topics* IF YOU READ THIS, DO NOT SKIP THE INTRO.
