"You can't rely on other people's kindness in this world. It don't exist." Normal people are like oblivious little ants, just working their way around, carry food, part of a bigger picture. People are so bland and mundane, each of them trying to be like the others. I suppose I'm no different- I'm trying to fit in too. However, a crippling obsession to avenge my only friend's death is getting in the way of that. If I want to get on with my life, I need to learn to come to terms with my past in a way that's less likely to get me killed.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I've been an internet user for twenty years now. That's older than some of my co-workers. It's over half my life. And still the internet feels like "the new thing." I used to take it for granted, like we all do. But at least I remember what it was like when it wasn't there. (Currently being rewritten under a new name The Claimed) Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Some people still believed in god and had faith in him, I didn't know what I believed in but I prayed like everyone else that I would get through another day without hearing the soul crushing word 'Mate'. [Book 3] People say things can change drastically in just a couple years. I couldn't agree more. In just a few years I went from a regular kid in high school, to Ruler of a zombie species. Of course for everyone else, it was much more than a few years, it was three hundred to be precise. Once the Crawlers wiped themselves out all that long ago, we thought it was over, that Humans would regain control of the planet and things would soon go back to normal. We were wrong. After another man tried to wipe out the human race, it was made apparent that even the original Crawlers may not have died out. They're more illusive than their ancestors, it is unclear whether this entails their danger or not.

A virus is was what caused our world to break, what caused the good to become the bad. Kids were being hunted down and captured for this gift that was given to them by that virus. It's been seven years. Parents tried to hide them, but they got killed and took the gifted. No child was safe, from five year olds to basically eighteen. It's the apocalypse for us. You can't trust adults. We don't know why they want from us, but I'm willing to do anything to protect my her. Some gifts are stronger than others, some are weaker than others, some are out of their own control. We don't know why the military wants us but, their not getting us. I'll avenge my mom and dad, they'll rest in peace. I'll protect anyone that needs protecting, I'll avenge every live that was lost.
