I wasn’t expecting somebody to run into me, and I really wasn’t expecting to go flying into the pool. I was just glad I changed into a bathing suit instead of getting my clothes soaked. I wasn’t exactly happy about being in the water, I wasn’t too fond of swimming. My parents never really taught me how so I always stayed where it was shallow. And just my luck, I got pushed into the deep end.
I tried to kick my legs enough to bring me back up to the surface, but panic set in and I couldn’t do it. I could feel my lungs burn and my heart start to race and I panicked more as I could feel myself falling deeper into in the pool.
I must have passed out because right after I saw a figure dive into the water everything went black and the next thing I knew, someone was pushing on my chest and I could feel air being forced into my lungs.
“C’mon, S.”
The voice sounded familiar but I couldn’t put a face to it. My mind was so clouded at the moment that I couldn’t remember where I was. Eventually, the air that was being forced into my lungs was enough to make my start coughing. I could feel water coming up my throat as I coughed it out, and it wasn’t pleasant.
“Oh my God, are you alright?”
I wish I wouldn’t have opened my eyes. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t have felt so embarrassed. He was leaning over me, his eyes filled with worry. I opened my mouth and tried to speak, but nothing would come out. I nodded instead and watching as he smiled, causing his dimple to show up on his cheek.
