No entry. John zuchtte. Hij had de weddenschap verloren dus moest hij inbreken in kamer 99 en daar een dag en een nacht blijven. Hij pakte de loper uit zijn binnenzak en begon in het slot te morren. Na een poosje ging het slot open en hij stapte naar binnen. De kamer was zo goed als leeg. Er stonden een paar antieke kastjes en een tafel, maar het werd duidelijk niet als hotelkamer gebruikt. In het midden van de stoffige, muffe kamer stond een spiegel. Hij liep er heen en bekeek zichzelf spottend aan. Net toen hij zich omdraaide zag hij dat zijn spiegelbeeld niet met hem mee bewoog. Verward draaide hij zich om en drukte zijn vinger tegen het spiegelglas. En toen ging het mis.
