My name is Ruth. It has been 17 years since the light touched the Earth. Those who survived to see it said it was like a bright star had tore a hole in the sky. It had come down from the heavens to wipe away the human race. I wasn’t there to see it happen though, I was hidden underground. I came out after a few months, once I knew the worst was over. I didn't really know what I should do or where I was going. I just kept moving from place to place, trying to stay alive. Then one day I stumbled across a place, a safe place, a place that is known to make dreams come true.
