On September 7, 2018, the JS bank held a media engagement session in honor of their newly appointed President and CEO, Basir Shamsie. The event was organized at the bank's head office located in Karachi, in which key journalists were invited to communicate and interact with the new CEO.
On the Occasion, Mr. Shamsie received encomiums for becoming the President and the CEO and for the bank's rapid progress. As a response to express his gratitude, the CEO commented on the bank's remarkable journey by acquiring the operations of the American Express bank, specifying that the bank started with only 4 branches and about 150 employees in total. Currently, the bank has 322 branches with more than 5000 employees, which remains the evidence of the bank's evolution from an investment bank to becoming one of Pakistan's leading banks.
Mr. Shamsie was also glad to announce that the overall finances of the bank had risen to PKR 16.7 billion, as reported in the bank's Q2 report. With that, the President of the JS bank acknowledged the variety of services provided by the bank, ranking it among the top 5 banks in Pakistan. He also regarded the considerable efforts of the JS bank in collaborating with different industry sectors to heighten the bar of opportunities for local individuals. He claimed that the bank will continue to deliver innovative means to bring value to the lives of Pakistani people.
Before becoming the President and CEO, Mr. Basir Shamsie served the JS Group since 1994, before which he worked for Upjohn Pakistan. He graduated with a BBA degree from the University of Texas and later attended the Leadership Development Program at Harvard Business School, USA. Mr. Basir is notable for his services to JSBL for closing 27 debt capital market transactions, including the major ones in Pakistan's history.
