"I just never thought-"
"what Lara?" his eyes shone with unshed tears.
"It doesn't matter," she said though her eyes, she knew, said otherwise.
"No-no it doesn't" he echoed. A deep pain reverberated through her chest and her shoulders began to shake.
"Goodbye Lara," he whispered, but they both knew it wasn't the end. It couldn't possibly be. She watched as he made his way across the street and ran a distressed hand through his shaggy hair. When he made it across the street he paused-a few cars passed blocking her line of sight, but she knew he still stood there-could feel his hesitation.
*All you have to do is ask-ask me and I will do it, for you Lara. I'd move the stars*
The words he spoke rang between them as a silent message-the final call. She opened her mouth, but it felt dry and heavy. Could I ask him? Should I? Panic rose in her throat as he began to walk again
"Kain! Please-plea-" her chest began to fall into itself. She failed to get the words out-couldn't ask. She walked into the street, to reach him-to show him the words she wanted to say. The world began to slow as a bright light engulfed her vision and a scream was ripped from her throat.
