Countless families are making the bold choice to educate their children at home, moving away from that one-size-fits-all approach that is so commonly seen in institutional schools. Whether you’ve already begun your homeschooling adventure and you’re looking to fine-tune things, or you’ve just started considering it for your family, the key to successful homeschooling is knowing your options and knowing your students.

There is a whole world of different philosophies and methods for teaching out there. In Home Field Advantage, former public school teacher turned homeschooler Skyla King-Christison gives you a tour of the world of homeschooling, offering an overview of major educational philosophies, including the Montessori method, Waldorf education, Trivium, Charlotte Mason education, and unschooling. She also gives you a broad-based introduction to ideas like whole and part instruction, multiple intelligences, learning styles, and child temperament. Finally, she helps you understand how to put it all together in a tailored home education plan. Rather than tell you what your children need, Skyla helps you assess your children’s individual needs for yourself, showing you the variety of options you have to challenge your students throughout their homeschooling years.

Home Field Advantage features insights from Skyla’s training as a professional educator, her own everyday homeschooling experiences and epiphanies with her three children, and her illuminating interviews with over 15 families that successfully homeschool.

Life doesn't abide by the rules of a child. Sixteen-year-old Ramona knows this. She's seen it throughout her entire life, from the way she was treated by her birth parents to the way she was thrown around the foster system with nothing but her little brother, Mason, to hold onto. Every bruised cheek and broken bone has slowly shattered Ramona's trust in the system and any foster parent she's ever met. In the end, it's only Mason she can trust. Her life is dedicated to making his better, and focused solely on sheltering him from the pain of feeling as lonely as she is. That is, until Ramona gets news one day that may just uproot everything she's ever believed about her and Mason's situation. Everything is about change for Mason, all because of a man named Owen Parker. He wants to take the only thing that Ramona has ever truly loved. He wants to adopt her brother, and there is nothing she can do to stop him. Though after years of running and years of pain, Ramona knows just how badly Mason needs a home. It's a breath of fresh air for him, a family filled with love, and everything that Mason has never had. But then, what about Ramona? She's brotherless, parentless, and alone in a city that has never cared about her. She has to find a way to cope, and she has to find a way to forgive the man who took her little boy from her. But she can't cope, she can't forgive, and she can only bend so many times before she breaks. - - Warning: This story deals with mature content that may be difficult for some to read, such as self-harm, suicide, drug use, abuse, depression, anxiety, and sexual harassment. - - Highest Ranks: |#1| - adopted |#1| - fosterkid |#1| - fostercare |#1| - foster |#1| - suicideawareness |#1| - recovery |#1| - comingofage |#1| - mentalillness |#1| - strength |#2| - adoption

Though, the mother ran away never to be seen or heard from again. When the girls start getting older they attend Pine Woods Primary. There one of the twins struggles with not having a mom, the other hiding her guilt very well. Elijah rely's on his mom a lot with the twins but one parent teacher conference changed that all. He starts picking his daughter up from school due to the teacher Miss Charlotte Hayes. The one girl Elijah could never shake from his mind. She has been a first grade teacher for 3 years now and when Elijah and Charlotte start hanging out they are like lovesick puppies in high school. Their secret eye contacts wont go unnoticed by one of his daughters. But, stuck in a tough spot neither of them can make a move, just will they listen? ^^^ Just a quick note: the plot, conflict and ect. is on a weaker scale than most books. This is my first big story, and may have a lot of errors. So please understand this story is not as great as it can be. Editing will come later, for now just enjoy. Editing- I am trying to edit this story. Maybe give it more but we'll see. This will be a slow process, but that shouldn't bother the readers(you)!
