Katie is a normal girl, goes to a normal school, and leads a mostly normal life. When her senior year begins, she is faced with the most significant and interesting project ever. Her teacher assigns each student a pen pal, who they must write to all year, and then are to be introduced to at the end of the school year. Katie becomes extremely close to her pal, but the secret guy she's communicating with may be closer to her than she thinks, with her mom getting remarried to Brian Gomez, Selena Gomez's father.

Selena Gomez is the new girl to Wilson High School in her new home of Tacoma, Washington. Making new friends is at the top of her mom's list, but not Selena's. Instead, Selena spends her free time making observations about certain people and when a certain someone catches her eye, she makes sure to pay a close eye on him. However, that close eye she keeps could land her into some big trouble. Justin Bieber is the popular guy at Wilson, not only because he is co-captain of the school's hockey team, but his father is rich and powerful. When the new girl catches his eye and he catches her eyes on him in a situation she shouldn't have witnessed, he finds this as the perfect opportunity to not only talk to Selena, but make sure she doesn't ruin him. Along the way, Selena and Justin find some interesting facts about each other and start to grow closer. Both finally opening to people about their past, present and future secrets they keep to themselves. But, how long will it last?
