I ran down the hallway as fast as I could. Staircase after staircase I ran. It is still chasing me. My cotton dress is torn and ripped at the seams. I run out the main room and flee for the front door. It's locked. I run to the window. It is locked. I run upstairs and try the windows in the hallway. Won't open. I head to the back door as a last hope. It's locked. I fall down to the floor, crying. I'm stuck in a house with my greatest fear.

I place my hand on the doorknob and twist it open. I let my eyes adjust to the darkness, finally I see what's in the room. A scream of terror erupts from my throat.
