Will Vale is the Alpha of the Crescent Blue Moon Pack, but he'd rather be anywhere else. He's just tired of it, but he knows that he's got to make that one last visit to a neighboring pack, attend that one last meeting, etc. It's never over for him, and that isn't making life easy for him.

Gabriella Elmwood is still recovering from the loss of her fiance, Alex Goodwell, who died a few months prior, when she meets Will. She ignores the immediate connection, still mourning the loss of the one man who she thought would be with her to the end of time. Of course, Will isn't happy about that.

Will can't understand why his mate is avoiding him and completely blowing off the mate connection. He knows that it must be something serious, but the answer just isn't coming to him. As if that's not enough, the rival pack, the Blood Rose pack, wants to declare war on Will's pack. He needs Gabriella more than ever right now.

And Gabriella needs Will. She's still grieving, but it's getting unbearable. But, suddenly, the Blood Rose pack are the only ones there for her when something dreadful happens. She finds herself in over her head, and the only one who can save her is Will.

But Will's been invited to a wedding and he doesn't have time to save her, or so they both think.
