Storm rolls in, sun sets low, a girl and her horse, lost in the snow. Lacey Ruiz takes her horse Nevada out for a trail ride in the woods behind her house, Echo Canyon Forest. It's the end of autumn and a thin layer of snow covers the ground. She takes a wrong turn and darkness sets in fast, as well as a storm. Same storm, same forest, same story, a boy's search for the missing calf turns into a rescue mission and his own survival. He's never been in these woods, he doesn't know the paths. It gets worse when the storm takes away the sun. Kane Taylor and his horse Diesel get lost in Echo Canyon Forest. When these two cross paths they help each other survive. Will they make it through the storm? Find shelter? How about a little romance?

Through valleys and along hidden lakes their relationship only grows closer, and lines start to blur. The stress of survival strains their relationship, while simultaneously bringing them closer than ever. Her whole life and generational ranch depends on whether or not she can recover all of their wayward cattle. A certain amount of luck, and an incredible amount of skill, will be required to escape with her future intact. Throughout her journey she will come to realize that a way out isn't always just a path. What starts as an act of kindness, quickly turns into her only hope.
