Just Pretend

Years ago, monsters were discovered to be real by the human public. This caused agony, panic, and all-out war. The humans came out on top despite massive casualties, rebuilding their broken societies and creating compounds of civilization. In 2075, Kaia Hall lives in one of these compounds, getting a job as a guard in a prison for invading monsters. Inside, however, she gets the idea in her head that something is going on. They have to be imprisoning monsters instead of just killing them for a reason. And when she finds out why, her whole world turns upside down. Now, with the unlikely help of the vampires she was supposed to be protecting her city from, she must act quickly to save her fellow humans. She's always known her world was full of unspeakable horrors, but this time Kaia's not going to just lay down and accept it. She's tired of pretending.
