This was an assignment for my English class, we had to rewrite Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" from a different perspective. My choice was, as can be observed in my rewrite, a neighbor who heard the poor old man scream. Enjoy, and if you have an criticism or maybe some tips, please.do let me know in the comments.

The Gentleman Killer
INTRODUCTION: Missing person reports were just piling up one after another these days. But none of the victims were found alive. After the killer got what he wanted from victim's family, the next day person would be found dead. People are starting to move out from the city. It's gotten worse as hours passed. Phones are ringing at the police stations and 911 calls are getting more and more desperate. Not many things were found out about this town's killer. But, the way people are describing him- yes him- shows that they all see him as an old man called the Gentleman. He got this name from the way he puts his deceased victims bodies. Lying on their back, carefully placed, hair brushed and clean, face without any makeup, but covered with black veil, white nightie with small bouquet in their arms that are placed on their chest. Beautifully horrific sight if you ask me. They all appeared to be women in their early or mid 20s, brunettes with blue eyes, skinny and average height. The Gentleman is described as someone in his late 30s or early 40s, is into art, but mostly sculptures as he shows by placing his victims in recognizable positions. On most of dead women's necks could be seen small tattoos that were assotiated with life and death- butterfly with its wings painted like skull. That was all that we knew of the Gentleman until something happened few days ago...Complete

"You're unbearable!" He kicks her with utter contempt. "Please tell me where I'm wrong, causing you discomfort was not my intention," she said crying, causing him to hit her against the ground again. "Do you think you can live with good intentions? Didn't you have all the time you wanted to change and learn? You still dare to ask for more!" He yells at her with hatred, he blamed her for being the one will cause a woman to be beaten; He didn't want to be that kind of man. However, what he lived with her caused him to bring out what he hated the most about himself from within. -Forget it love- said a woman who was next to her- it's not worth it- this dog was supposed to be her friend, she was supposed to support her just like she did; however he managed so that he and she hated each other and thus be able to steal it. The woman on the floor does not know how much she was framed and harmed by her naivety, nor did she know that this was the beginning of her misfortunes. Because of that woman she did not stop suffering, wherever she went she suffered verbal or physical abuse and everything was orchestrated by this woman; she didn't know until she was about to faint. "Why?" She asked this unarmed woman without knowing why she hated him so much. She never did anything to hurt him. She just laughed viciously without answering him, she didn't have to waste her time with an insect; leaving La to die imprisoned in the house where she was kidnapped. "Answer me!" She got up from her bed screaming "Eh? This looks like my room; Did I reincarnate myself in the past?" She ran to the bathroom just to see that her assumption was correct. She thanked the heavens for this second chance by promising that she wouldn't be fooled a second time.Complete

So, when captured by the notorious Red Prince, I embraced the challenge of manipulating my freedom. Pierce Darcee, was a sadistic vampire with a God complex. The fool actually believed he could break me. Little did he know, I was the kind of Reaper who would dance through a battlefield, whistling a merry tune as I twirled my braids. I relished the challenge of manipulating his oversized ego, planning to stab that rotting, blackened heart of his with a venom-laced dagger. I crafted a scheme so delightful, so intricate, that I couldn't help but salivate at the prospect of victory. It was foolproof, or so my mind believed. But then... then there was that pull. That unexpected, unwelcome spark that ignited something within me. Feelings, of all things! Now, that was a complication. Disgusting, messy feelings that could very well lead to my destruction.
