Whilst investigating the death of a local nurse, a gracious hairdresser named Alison uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, silver key circulating throughout New York. As soon as anyone touches the key, he or she has exactly 90 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look translucent. A marked person feels light to the touch.
Alison gets hold of the key, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: an evil nurse, an old newspaper headline about a magic accident, a hooded figure ranting about eyes and a drinking well located in a grave.
When Alison notices her fingers have ghost-like properties, she realises that the curse of the silver key is true and calls in her wife, a detective named Katy , to help.
Katy examines the key and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before her eyes. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.
