A girl named Mave, who struggles with anxiety, who has been through so much pain and sorrow, the school starts a pen-pal project and Mave ends up writing her first note to a boy her age named Abner, he lives in Nebraska. Mave starts to like him just as a friend and they continue writing letters to each other. Then she starts developing a feeling for him that makes her believe that Abner is the boy she has waited for to come and light up her life. He writes to her one day and tells her he has a surprise for her at the end of his letter. Then turns out that the surprise is that he's moving to Michigan because his dad got a new job there, and they end up going to school together. He then got her number and texted her. Everyday they got into a conversation. Then the bullying for Mave at school gets more brutally and chronic, Abner does his best to help her. Mave feels as if there is no hope for her at all she cries herself to sleep every single night dreading the day after and hopes to die before it comes. Abner does everything in his power to help her. But you can not fix what is meant to be broken....

Meadow was sent to finish her Senior year in a small town with her Aunt Tilly and Uncle Martin because her mother can't deal with her and her depression any longer. Ryker is also a Senior in high school and everybody knows him as the 'badboy' which he was named from the many rumors througout the years that were told about him. He doesn't care what others think and plans to leave town after graduation. He has a small group of friends of school but they are ones he can trust. He doesn't care about popularity and thinks it's amusing more than ever to see the girls want him. He tries to mind his own business and isn't interested in getting too attached and involved with anyone. So he just messes around. That is, until he meets the new girl who immediately draws his attention and makes him instantly intrigued. It's hard for him to trust anyone other than his close friends and she doesn't trust anybody, including guys. Can they help each other out? Can he help save her from herself?
