"You're a good person, Peter. You save people." I just hope I could do the same.

"Thanks... And what about you? You're stopping what you saw, right? That's something."

I gave a half hearted smile, "Yeah... I'm just scared it won't be enough, you know?" I let my feet swing lightly and I felt Peter's hand brush my hair that had fallen, behind my ear. I turned my head to look at him.

"Don't beat yourself up about it, Case. Some things just can't be changed."

"I hope your wrong about that." I said softly.

We looked out into the distance once again, watching the trees sway, the people still walking around the park and hanging out and I felt my worries flow into the wind. I was never that heartfelt with Peter, in terms of sadness and such. I never cried in front of him until last week and I wasn't sure if that was because I didn't want to feel like I needed to be rescued, or because I knew how he'd feel to see me that way. I knew he cared...

"Peter, I like you."

It's almost funny. How grief sneaks up on you. One second, you're fine; you're coping well and then it hits you like a bullet, tearing right through your heart, almost killing you on the spot. Grief is a monster that lies dormant in the darkest quarters of your mind, growing stronger and stronger until you can't fight anymore. Until you can't breathe. Peter was fractured. The monster having grown too big, and without any support left to hold him up, the world of drugs dug its claws into him. And it was slowly killing him, like a sickly sweet poison that dulled the pain while quietly feeding on his soul. He was powerless to stop it. He was too tired to stop it. Tony was doing pretty good. Aside from having died, he was doing pretty good. Resurrected from the dead, check. Thanos dead, check. Wife and daughter thriving, check. He'd never expected to get his life back, that was for sure. He was thankful for the second chance. Unfortunately, Tony was quick to discover that the kid had all but lost his own life. It felt like a knife slowly twisting into his chest every time he saw the kid: in agony. Now Tony wasn't exactly the poster-child for a good emotional support figure, but he wasn't about to sit back and let this continue. No matter how hard the kid fought him, no matter how much resistance he was met with, Tony would help the kid. Still, he couldn't help the fear that laced his blood. Tony couldn't help but question whether he would be able to save Peter from the weight of grief. **NO Starker** Triggers Warnings: Substance Use/Abuse Depressive and/or Suicidal Thoughts/Mentions Rape Threats/Mentions Descriptive Blood/Minimal Gore Some Self-Harm Coarse Language Mental Illness (various) This is a heavier story, so please don't read if you're not comfortable with any of the above triggers. Life is not a Fairytale (PeterParkerxReader)

78 parts Complete

Y/n Stark, the 15 year old daughter of Tony Stark, has been isolated from the world. The only people who know about her, her parents and godparents, want to keep it that way. But when the other Avengers accidentally find out, her life has just really begon. Dealing with annoying people, going to school and fighting against villains of the worst kind is not easy. You can't just sit around and wait for Prince Charming to rescue you. You have to fight for what you hold close, and try to protect it. That may not be the best option you can get when you have panic attacks, powers that are too strong to sometimes control and having feelings and emotions that are great but also exhausting. Y/n realises life is not a fairytale, and if she wants to change the world, there will always be people who will try to stop her from doing so. ⚠️Trigger Warning⚠️ If you get triggered by reading about panic attacks, abusive content or anything in that area, I want to advice you not to read this book. How great a story can be, think about your safety first. Mental health matters, put yourself first. Thank you. Posting daily a new chapter!!
