Maluridae

(UPDATES FRIDAYS) Kellen has only ever known the golden streets that wind through the magnificent gated city of Orielle, a sanctuary for the remaining survivors after a thousand year war that raged endlessly until the realm crumbled to ruin. In its wake, a cathedral sprang up in the rubble of the catastrophe and with it an entire city that would be kept hidden away behind a great wall of uncrushable stone. The humans are the dominant race to their counterparts, an unusual group of beings who can easily be distinguished by their shimmering skin and ability to shapeshift into any form they choose. Known as the Novo, the shifting race were the losers of the war but given a chance of "Rebirth" from their human counterparts who allowed the remaining few Novo to take refuge in their golden city.

Hundreds of years after the end of the war, Kellen lives in the very peak of the industrializing society as the son of a judge. The discrimination of Novo has increased to terrible levels over the years and several underground organizations have been making efforts to eliminate their inhuman counterparts.

An assassination of the King occurs and the mourning city is pointing fingers at the Novo. Constant fear of war pressures the people of the city and the nobles live in fear that the assassination of their beloved emperor is only the beginning of a rebellion. With no way to leave the city, the humans resort to killing anyone who bears shimmering skin. It isn't until Kellen finds Maluridae, the bastard Novo daughter of the widowed king who knows the secrets hidden within the city that could have all the spiraling questions behind the brewing conflict answered. The only problem, an ancient clock is ticking and the unbreakable walls of the city may just be breakable.
