This is the story of Adam James, through someone else' eyes. Adam James is the hotty of the Golden-Ridge high school, tanned skin, muscular build, dark hair, deep, blue piercing eyes. What's not to like? He can have all the girls he wants, but chooses not to. He can have every boy quiver at his feet, but he chooses not to. But all that changed after Ariella Murdock died from a savage animal attack, two years ago. Now eighteen, Adam looks the same, but his attitude changed, his once angelic personality turned into one of the Devil's. He beats poor kids senseless, sleeps around, and scares everyone away except for those dignity-deprived school prostitutes. Why did he react this way to this girl's death? That's the question everybody who is anybody has been asking themselves, so naturally the no-body Mia Heptitch, doesn't ask herself these things when she changes from a different school to Golden-Ridge. She keeps to herself, talks only when necessary and picks up the pieces of her best friend, Cristy Lovelock's heart after it was shattered by Adam James' best friend, Ryan.

Four years ago, Catherine Louise Rossum left town-and Jake Nicholson behind. Once her best friend, he's now Ashcliffe Crescent High's golden boy, untouchable and magnetic. She's the girl who disappeared like a ghost and returned six blocks away, feeling like a stranger in her own story. But time changes people, and Catherine is no exception. The question is: will it pull her and Jake back together-or push them further apart? "He's not the boy she left. She's not the girl he remembers".
