Dapur secara harafiah berarti suatu tempat, biasanya di dalam rumah di mana seseorang melakukan aktivitas mengolah dan menyediakan bahan makanan atau pangan. Aktivitas ini disebut memasak. Dengan berkembangnya budaya dan teknologi, bentuk dapur selalu berubah-ubah. Umumnya Dapur di bagi menjadi dua tipe, yaitu dapur bersih dan dapur kotor. Dapur bersih bisa di tempatkan dekat ruang keluarga, ataupun meja makan, karena memang fungsinya untuk menaruh makanan yang sudah dimasak. Sedangkan untuk dapur kotor, berfungsi untuk melakukan proses masak-memasak, sehingga letaknya pun berada di belakang.
