Kakos is the ruling prince on Typhon.  He has a taste for madness, blood, and Mina's victories in the killing pits.  He sends her to Earth to assassinate the human standing in the way of the gods, and visits her dreams to ensure she is fulfilling her end of the contract.

Nathaniel Barrack is no easy mark.  He has inherited the war on the gods from his father. A tenuous peace has been set up in the last twenty-five years, but with each assassin sent his way Nathaniel doubts there's any trust to be had in a god-blood.  But then he hires a new assistant, Mina. 

Silver is a part of the "Human-Made" movement, countering humanities dependence on the ruling artificial intelligence.  Their gender-fluid body has served the group well, a project with targets in motion.  But then Mina lands as their roommate, derailing everything.    

Mina prefers the swing of a sword, and dodge of a body to having conversations.  Following orders has never been less simple; the more of humanity she meets, the less certain she is of the side she should be defending.
