Every mermaid was given a choice whenever they turned eighteen. They would have the privilege to choose whether to go above the surface, have what humans called 'feet' and have a chance to live as a human or stay under water. Many chose to leave the city of Atlantia and never returned. But many also returned to there homeland, saying that that place is not suited for them to live in forever. No one really tells the real reason behind it after returning from above.
Now at the year 2018, the princess of Atlantia, Schimba, turned eighteen.

A swim gone wrong causes my twin sister to begin to fear the water. She barely even touches it. I went missing when it happened, everyone thinks I drowned, and died.
