"Even though they are 'tainted,' these feathers are so pretty-" Aurem is about to pull a feather out, when the boy grabs her wrist.
"Are you crazy?" He looks worried for a second, and then calms down. "No, nobody told you."
"Told me what? I've already lost a few when I ran into the floor..." She rambles, her partner facepalms.
"Your feathers are like a divine life-force while you're here. If they're all gone, your soul will descend into Hell, and in your case, your human body will die too. The man looks her in the eyes. "You clearly don't want to die."
Aurem folds back her wings. "Oh... wow. No, I definitely don't."
