Prologue: The sweet lilting notes of a melody could once again be heard on the wind. As per usual, the people whose ears heard the flute were instantly captivated and smiled at the thought of the young Alula Astlin playing away on her silver woodwind instrument. The sound could be traced to the small glen the townspeople of VillaGreen called The Centre. There, surrounded by grass and the thick logs, the young girl stood, a flute to her lips. Her eyes were closed in concentration, hiding her dark brown, almost black eyes, framed by her long black eyelashes. Her hair matched her eyes and lashes in colour, in soft curls that cascaded down her back. The melody issuing from the silver flute softened slowly before slowing down to a complete stop. Not long after, another tune started up, this time much more sad. Into this piece, Alula poured out all of her negative emotions and memories. The townspeople could hear the misery that sounded out from the flute, as they recalled the terrible scandal that had occurred a few years ago, when Alula was very little. ......................................................................................................... Prologue A long time ago, there was a girl with her short height who always spent her break time the same way quietly tucked away in her secret place under the tree, reading her notes. Every day, without fail, sometimes she sat alone by the window in the farthest corner of the classroom, hidden behind a curtain of silence and sunlight. The world outside bustled with chatter and footsteps, but in her little corner, time seemed to slow down. She always wore her earphones, soft music playing just loud enough to drown out the noise. Her long black hair fell gently over her shoulders, framing a face that was too often lost in thought. She didn't care how she looked why would she? She believed no one was watching. To her, this moment of peace belonged only to her. But she was wrong. She didn't know that someone had been watching her all along. A boy. He sat a few rows away, quiet and unnoticed just like her. Day after day, he observed her from a distance, curious and drawn to the way she seemed so content in her own world. He didn't know her name. He didn't know her story. But something about her made him pause, made him want to understand the silence she lived in. What she didn't know was that he would soon become the one to change everything she believed about herself. He would be the one to break her quiet world And he would be the one to show her that happiness still exists in this world.
