The lights flicked on and I squinted to see a tall and broad figuring standing at my cell door, unlocking it, and walking in. The aura this man was giving out was making it hard not to tremble. I quickly stood up and bowed. "What is your name" he bellowed kinda muffled. I panicked and quickly remembered that the guards had not checked me before putting me in here. I pulled out my speech device and began typing...I looked up for a split second just to see a fist plummeting towards me and everything became fuzzy. I could hear screams but could not make out what was being said. She laughed - sharp, broken, brutal. "Yeah? That's why you were fucking her in your office? Couldn't even hide the scent of your betrayal." "Ara, it was a mistake-" She stepped closer, eyes blazing. "Your mistakes come in episodes, Alpha. Season one, season two, season three. You don't make mistakes. You make choices." He swallowed hard. "I don't need her. I need you." "Lies," she spat. "Every damn sentence you breathe is a lie. I can't even look at you without feeling sick." He flinched like her words physically hit him. "That female behind you?" she pointed, not bothering to glance. "Perfect for you. Go mark her. Breed her. Hell, fuck her for all I care." Her voice cracked - but she kept going, blade steady even when bleeding. "I don't need you. Not anymore." His knees crashed to the floor. The mighty Alpha. On the ground. For her. "Ara... I'm sorry. I'm really fucking sorry." His voice broke like he finally understood what loss tasted like. She stared at him with a sad, devastating smile. "Isn't it too late for that, Mate?" The Stranger under the willow tree
On a frigid and blustery October evening, the radiant moon cast its glow upon a solitary willow tree, perched atop a hill. Beneath the tree sat a mysterious man, clutching a large, worn storybook. Suddenly, his gaze was drawn to a child, no more than 10 to 13 years old, wandering aimlessly nearby. With a welcoming gesture, the man motioned the child over to him. "Why are you out here all alone on such a freezing night?" he inquired with concern. The child merely shrugged in response. The man sighed and reached out his hand, offering it to the shivering youngster. Without hesitation, the little boy took hold of the man's hand and they made their way over to the willow tree where a cozy fire was already burning. "Here you are, little one," the man said gently. "Let's get you nice and warm." Seated by the fire, the child's eyes were drawn to the book resting against the tree. With a pointed finger, he indicated his desire for a story. The man smiled kindly. "Well then, let's dive into some tales, shall we?"Complete
The Neighbour's House
My neighbour's house is normal. There are two stories, stairs, and a tiny porch. A red door, and many windows with pretty crimson shutters. My neighbour's house is normal. The lights are on when they need to be, and off when they don't. The grass is mown, and there are sometimes cars in the driveway. My neighbour's house is normal. Sometimes I can see into some of the rooms. Always when I'm not really trying. The rooms are nice, with a warm colour scheme and polished wooden furniture. There is one room that is entirely white. A bare bulb swings from the ceiling. From the outside, I can see no furniture. The walls are old and stained.. There are no shutters on that window. My neighbour's house is normal. I see them sometimes. They're gone most of the day. We wave when we see each other, coming or going. Those two seem nice. Didn't they used to have a son about my age? My neighbour's house is normal. They turn off their lights about the same time we do. Except in that one room. The lights in the white room stay on late each night. I tried to watch them, once, to see how late they stayed on. I fell asleep. When I woke up, they were already off. My neighbour's house is normal. Sometimes I hear sounds from the house. Almost like muffled screams. Everyone gets night terrors, it's common knowledge that, at night, everything can sound scary. My neighbour's house is normal. Except when it isn't.Complete
