I stepped back out into the lightly lit hallway and began to walk towards the final room, the pink and purple door. I giggled at the sign that hung on the back, reading, ¨No Boys Allowed!¨. I pushed the door open, softly this time, and peered around the room of a little girl. Her bed was still made, her toys were picked up and placed neatly into the correct places. The window sills were white, and the carpet was a soft pink. I looked towards the closet and a surprised smile crossed my lips. She left her pictures up on the walls. I ran my fingers softly over the photographs, sadness slowly morphing my smile into a grimace. She was so small, blonde, and beautiful. I walked over to the rest of the pictures - freezing as the floor groaned underneath my weight. I tensed my body, waiting for my heartbeat to slow before looking at the pictures once again. My fingers froze over one photograph, the photograph that held four little girls rather than one. A blonde, two brunettes...and one black-haired little girl sat perched with big smiles underneath the big tree. That little raven-haired girl, was me. My eyes flew open as I named the two brunette girls from school. Sarah, and Kaylnn, and? I looked at the back of the photo for the name of the blonde girl. ¨Anna?¨ My heart began to pound as realization dawned on me. The little blonde girl, the tree, the woods, this house? I whirled and stepped forward, my mind racing at the revelation of a memory. Just as my foot went down, I lurched forward and plummeted through the floor of the room. I heard the sound of a scream echo throughout my ears, along with the cracking of the woods and the whirring of air in my ears. I landed on my back, two floors down. The noise had been replaced with a steady ringing noise, and my body was numb. I felt the steady thud of my heartbeat, until a beautiful silence surrounded me. I told you, I adore the sound of silence.

It was a rush of hatred mixed with sarcasm that killed her. One bullet to her chest and then another and another, until she slouched her way down to the floor, covering the white walkways with red. Her now leaving me in a cold trance at the tiny framed friend of mine on the floor, well that is until I looked up to the barrel of the gun pointing at me now. My heart clenching together underneath my skin, pulse raising as I attempt to make sense out of all this, and the brief illusion of a shadow on the wall behind her, all tease me when I’m trying to think if this is all true. That’s when it happens; his dark hair flowing in his eyes from his lack of going to the hair cutter and his violet eyes deepening the stare between the two of us. Don’t shoot! I’ll do anything! Just don’t kill him. My thoughts scream at me, making my line of concentration grow slimmer with each word. Tears begun to fill the bottom of my eyes, my throat closing to the full extent, my ever so calm hands were trembling at my hips and the requirement of breath vanish from my lungs. His hands run out to calm this girl, speaking softly and letting her know that it will be alright if she simply lets us go. And just as she starts to give in to his pervasive act, the fire alarm sets off, sending her in a protective fury of gunshots. Hitting him dead on. Felt like a bullet to my heart.
