***WINNER of the "BREATHTAKING: A FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL WRITING COMPETITION!" "You are a secret kept from the world, but not from me." So begins the peculiar message found slipped under a bedroom door on the morning of May first. Theo is the heir to a powerful dictatorship. The number of people allowed to know he exists is few. He has spent his entire life walled up in the Tower, the looming stone monolith from which his father rules over the Land. Merryn is the daughter of political prisoners. She's known who Theo is longer than he would think possible, and she is taking a great risk contacting him via handwritten notes in order to convince him he deserves more than the fate his father has designed for him. She has one month to exchange daily messages with him, to answer his questions and open his eyes to the realities of a world he has never been allowed to see. A revolution is coming to the Land at the end of the month, and if Merryn's notes fail to get their point across, Theo may never live to see the sunrise on June first. A/N: The following letters were originally published each day from May 1st-31st, 2014. As you will see,Theo is allowed to write down a question for Merryn each evening, but you, the reader, won't see these within the body of the story. It may or may not be obvious from Merryn's response what Theo is asking. Part of the fun is guessing what his questions might be, but if you really want to know what they are, a list of those questions is at the end of the story. This story is a re-imagining of Rapunzel. Now, without further ado-I believe a young heir is about to unfold a slip of paper found on the tile floor near his door... Let's see what it says!

The banging starts again but this time a lot louder. I can hear the girls screaming up stairs. I pick up my phone and dial 911. "Hello this is 911 what's your emergency?" "There are a bunch of wolves outside my house. I think they have rabies or something I'm not sure." The banging gets louder and I can feel my face getting wet from the tears. "Mamm did you say wolves are there?" "Yes Yes there are wolves about 10 of them out here in my front yard. I need help!" I hang up the phone and sit on the end of the stair case. I close my eyes and start praying. Something I haven't done in a while. "I have faith, there is a god. I have faith, there is a god, I have faith, there is a god." I repeat over and over. The glass breaks and I start screaming. I stand up and try to scramble up the stairs. The door comes falling down and there are about 10 wolves standing in front of my door. "Why?" She interrogated once they entered the room together, apprehensive about what she was inquiring and petrified of who she was interviewing. Their surroundings were small, meaning that there was little chance for her to escape, to his happiness. The store cupboard was littered with dusty cleaning equipment that could have easily been centuries old, shelves hanging on rusty hinges, and the strange scent of strong lemons filled the air, setting a scene that would surely be remembered for the two of them. He shut and locked the door, turned to face her, and proceeded to ask a question of his own. "Why what?" He replied, anxious in his own way- fearful for what she could do next. "Why haven't you done it yet?" "What?" He still didn't understand what she was talking about. "Why haven't you rejected me? Thrown me away like the garbage I am? Why haven't you hurt me-" ^-^-^-^-^-^-^ Ariel Black could have been normal like everyone else, but -she wasn't. She was a werewolf. She could turn into a wolf at will, she was faster, stronger than humans, she had fast healing abilities, and it was much easier for her to find her soulmate- her mate- than it was for humans. They're mates. As fate, irony and humour would have it, she flees like the real Cinderella that she is, scared that he would reject her, leaving behind two clues for him to find her: Her scent, And a shoe. Determined to find out who the mysterious girl (also the pack's next Luna) was, Alpha-to-be Jacob Prince goes on a frantic search for his maiden. She looked at him with her blue eyes. "I don't think so." "What if I said I loved you?" he whispered hoarsely.
