Kassian never expected a chance to live again. He made willing gave his life in for the cause. Two children barging into the his coffin and his taking his sword is not what he expected in the afterlife. Red eyed wolves attacking the children is definitely not what is expected. After he saves the children he finds out that thousand years have passed and everything he knew is different.
