Spirits as the Living of the Dead. The ones who did not dye because of evil but good and used magic to stay alive. But when they hit a body they are stuck there but won't need to use magic to stay alive. Most go dormant after they find that the person they entered is not powerful enough to have mind space. But the one who has the mind space has been born, and now is gaining power, without knowing what happening to them. Spirits are the power that is unknown but powerful. And at a level that could end the world.
One with that power can live without restraints. Until they lose.
